I had my Civic 2001 repainted and they did a crappy job.. it cost me $1,000. I'll never buy a cheap paint job again. Have you ever had your car painted or repainted?
a paint job can range from 50 dollars to 5000 depending on the quality desired and your abilities. The 50 dollar one would be the latest craze the rustoleum roller paint job which can turn out good if a extreme attention to detail is exercised there is lots of sanding required with a lot of coats in between. On the other end of the spectrum is a 5000 high end paint job with a top quality paint like ppg or house of kolor finished up with a wet sand and polishing, for a mirror finish. in between are local body shops which can vary from excellent to poor. you also have maaco and earl sheib which lay a reasonable quality paint prep sucks though so the car better be ready. Another option is to find someone who is an experienced painter and buy supplies 100-500 and have him shoot your car for 300 or so, there are many out there... hope this helps.
To repaint a car that has no need to be repainted is a total waste of money. You will NEVER get that money back when its time to sell the car. If the car is a clunker then head to the nearest Maaco and spend $399 and get a cheap paint job that will wash off inside of 1 year. Or if its a collectors car then hit up a body shop and spend $3000+ for a proper paint job.





To paint a car just cause you can or wish for a new color is insane. All you will do is lower the value of the car. Cause now everyone who wants to buy it will ask.... how bad was the accident? it was repainted after all.





Why do so many people think its easy, cheap and profitable to repaint a car is beyond me. Guess too many 2 Fast 2 Furious movies.
I've had two cars painted. MY '68 Mustang and a '65 Mustang that my grandson and I restored for him to drive. With body work and paint they came to $8,000 or so each. The paint was around $4K each and the rest was body work. Both were good paint jobs and I'm satisfied with them. I have seen better jobs but they paid close to $8K just for the paint job. I've also seen some cheap paint jobs and wouldn't go there on a dare. You definitely get what you pay for and a complete repaint done right with quality paint will run you around $3 to $4K.
