What type of paint can i use to airbrush on a car?

also what type of thinner should i use and can i buy stencils for this jobWhat type of paint can i use to airbrush on a car?
depends on the paint the car was painted in last, if its baked enamel then you can use acrylic or 2 pack, if its 2 pack then use 2 pack only.

The area you are spraying will need to be rubbed back with 1200 or micro paper first, then whole job will need to be clear coated.

check with your auto paint supplier for stencils etc. What type of paint can i use to airbrush on a car?
there's two schools of thought

waterbased

or

urethane

either or, if we're just talking graphics here, scuff the entire area (the entire panel that's going to be painted) with 600-800 grit wet dry sandpaper or a red scotchbrite.

This provides a mechanical bond, not a chemical one.

Prep the surface with a degreaser, and again with mineral spirits.

Do the graphics using Auto Air, Golden or the urethane of your choice. Follow up with a high quality clear coat, preferably done by a pro.
