a clear coat is more or less a protective coat, when this comes off, u will notice a different shade of paint in the area in which it has removed itself. paint used to degrade b4 they started using clear coats because no one waxed their cars, now they put a clear coat on it in an effort to make the paint look better longer. the earliest i ever seen a descent clear coat start to peel was maybe 5 years. so more clear coat just means more protection.If a new car needs to be clear coated again due to surface scratches does this affect the paint later?
I don't beleave my eyes? No you cannot strip off the clear and reapply a new coat. Original paint is baked on. You need a professional car detailer who knows how to swing a buffer. Even deep clear scratches can be polished and the paint can look just like new again. And bury the car in a quality car wax. And much cheeper than any refinish procedure.
Does it make the car drive better?
No, i see no reason there would be a problem later on. As long as a body shop you trust, or the dealership you got it from is doing it you should have no problems.
