Car paint job?

how much does it cost for a decent paint job, like the colours id like is black, blue, silver, the car i wanna spray is a cinqeucento. please help meCar paint job?

It depends on how much prep work is needed, what kind of paint, how complex the car design is, and how much paint is used.


Black is going to be the most expensive. It requires the most prep work, because any flaw in the body will be brought out by black paint. (non-metallic)


Blue is better, but it still shows the flaws, so alot of prepwork is required. (non-metallic)


Silver is about the cheapest paint. It hides imperfections, however, because it is a light paint, more prep work is required (multiple layers of light primer). (non metallic).


The reason i say 'non-metallic' is because, although metallic paint is more expensive, it covers imprefections very well, less paint is needed, and also requires the least amount of prep work.


That fiat has a pretty bland design (assuming you havent modified the body), so its going to require less prepwork with masking.





You would have to find out if the fiat cinqeucento has a multi step paint to even estimate the cost. A two step paint would be the color then a clear coat... i have a car with a 4 step paint, so stripping it down to the bare metal is more time consuming.





This is what you would need for a quality paint job, not something that will chip off in 5 years. if you call a company, and they dont do any of these things, do not use them.


Sand to bare metal. This is a must, you must strip the paint down to the bare metal, if you dont, you compromise the new paint job.


Self etching primer-Applied to the bare metal will etch itself into the metal and the paint has something to stick too.


Flex additive (everyone that paints cars uses one form of this). It helps the primer stick to the plastic parts on the car, if youve ever seen a car that has a decent paint job, but the paint on the bumpers is chipping off, thats because the person did not use a flex additive when painting the car.


Color-2-3 medium coats of paint-1-1.5 quarts (1.5L) roughly $50-100 US= (20-50 gbp)


Now, not all paints require a clear coat. With the paint prices listed, your going to need a clear. .8 L=10GDP
